Sitting, Stewing, or Suppressing: We Have Options for Managing Emotions

We have options for managing our emotions: Sit in them, stew in them, or suppress them. But because emotions are an inherent part of being a human (and play a role), we cannot just get rid of them. Sitting with our emotions allows us to process and release our emotions for long term relief, whereas stewing in them or suppressing them may bring short term relief and distress down the line.
